The Richard "Bert" Bertrand Local Prospect

Dave Bureau, Samuel Lachance et Marco Daigle

The Gatineau international midget Kiwanis Tournament gave a scholarship to Samuel Lachance, the best local prospect during its 43rd edition.

The Richard « Bert » Bertrand scholarship recognizes the excellence of a local midget hockey player. It was given with the contribution of Bellai & Frères. The number 24 of the Gatineau Intrépide also saw his name engraved on the souvenir plaque. Samuel was the 6th player to receive this grant of $1,000.00.

In January 2003 the tournament instituted this commemorative plaque Richard « Bert » Bertrand, in honour of the one who past away due to cancer in November 2002. He was president of the International Midget Kiwanis Tournament in 1993 and 1994. “Bert” was well known in the Outaouais Hockey community and made his mark as a scout for the Hull Olympiques for a number of years.
